The Human Spirit That’s The Challenge.

Every living thing and everyone is on there way to somewhere. Our daily routines, what we attach to our limited time, the things that are our priorities. What matters, what doesn’t, how to choose. In my twenties it was how do I begin to build a life. In my thirties growing what I had begun, in my forties maintaining what was established. In my fifties have I done enough? What was ounce important is now being redefined evaluated for clarity of purpose.

A look back provides a view of my path and the winding and often broken road my steps have followed.  Often blessed with understanding, and clear direction, and regretfully times of wondering off the path. Sometimes out into the desert, wondering aimlessly on my own insisting I knew the way. What seemed to be an oasis suddenly vanishes and was only a mirage. Maybe you have been there too.

The Human spirit that’s the challenge, that’s the void, I, Me, Self. I seems that from all indications that’s the way to be. Celebrated lives of excess, abundance, and privilege the product of words and deeds that call attention to me, I, and self. I listened as a celebrated athlete suggested that his web site and the information it contained were” so every one would know about me”. My immediate thought was “to know who or what you are for what purpose”. How would knowing about him do anything for me or anyone anywhere? Self promotion and aggrandizement to be do or have to what end?

There was a song in the 70s that anthemed ‘I want to be a millionaire”, now a new song says the young man wants to be a billionaire. Like Opra and the queen. To have the things he never had. I am unsure as to why or how someone in their twenties laments about the things he “never had”.  It takes more and more to have what you need or never had. To be above, set apart, special, more than others. It seems that if one could just have enough others would want, need, like, or recognize my self and all would be well.

Have you experienced these things in your life? I have. Much to my surprise and dismay the path forsaking all, to obtain or be or do above all others has been littered with failure and despair. I know while attempting to get to the oasis, it always became father away. I needed and wanted more just to maintain so I could finally arrive. That place of comfort, ease, luxury, privilege and most all recognition of my SELF.

It seems the toll way of life has many passengers. The cost of personal fullfillment ever greater. Determined to have more of life, by promoting, pushing for acceptance, prominence, and acknowledgement. To what end, I have watched as talented athletes, entertainers, driven professionals, the everyday men with years invested. Stumble; unravel loose all and fall from or having never made it to that place worked and longed for. That lofty perch or oh so close, the higher the leap often the greater the fall. Unless!

Psalms 37:

23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
24 Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.
25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread.
26 The godly always give generous loans to others, and their children are a blessing.
27 Turn from evil and do good, and you will live in the land forever.
28 For the Lord loves justice and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die.
29 The godly will possess the land and will live there forever.
30 The godly offer good counsel; they teach right from wrong.
31 They have made God’s law their own, so they will never slip from his path.
32 The wicked wait in ambush for the godly, looking for an excuse to kill them.
33 But the Lord will not let the wicked succeed or let the godly be condemned when they are put on trial.
34 Put your hope in the Lord. Travel steadily along his path. He will honor you by giving you the land. You will see the wicked destroyed.
35 I have seen wicked and ruthless people flourishing like a tree in its native soil.
36 But when I looked again, they were gone! Though I searched for them, I could not find them!
37 Look at those who are honest and good, for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.
38 But the rebellious will be destroyed; they have no future.
39 The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

“Selah stop and think of that”

May God bless your life as you pursue him! May Gods love and kindness direct you as we are renewed and strengthened as he does a new thing in our lives, the journey to our new life is on foot, led by the Spirit and Gods Word, to serve Him, and others.
